The second open studio at Super Studio Kitakagaya was directed by Kohei Sasahara, an SSK resident artist who also works as a curator. It featured “STUDIO VISIT,” where visitors could tour residents’ studios; “OPEN PRACTICE,” an exhibition in the shared space; “TALK,” streamed online; and “WALK,” a private tour of the studios with the curator.

Sasahara, who has observed each resident from within as a resident himself, used his own classification as a clue in an attempt to situate twelve artists and creators within the broader flow of art history.

An exhibition in SSK’s shared space. As a site for Kohei Sasahara’s (resident, artist) curating and theoretical practice, it attempted to situate SSK’s diverse residents within the broader flow of art history, using Sasahara’s classification based on his observation of all residents as a clue. The display changed weekly.
