Tomoko Inagaki Solo Exhibition ‘Whiteout’

I, Tomoko Inagaki, mainly create works focusing on Japanese society and gender, using media such as video, installation and performance. The title of my solo exhibition ‘Whiteout’ came to me during a residency in Kiso Village in February 2021. It refers to the phenomenon in which snow or clouds turn the field of vision entirely white, making it impossible to distinguish anything. I found this word amid the beauty of the snow-covered village and the harshness of nature, and saw in it all of us groping our way through society under COVID-19. The exhibition combines two-dimensional works, video and performance.
As this is the last exhibition CAS will hold at this location, I will also give a performance as a homage.
